A fantastic four days of top class jumps action at Cheltenham certainly didn’t disappoint. Hurricane Fly regained his Champion Hurdle crown in good style, while Sprinter Sacre was phenomenal in the Champion Chase and that easily puts him up there with the National Hunt gods. Roll on Aintree!
Lingfield stage their Winter Derby meeting, the flat season seems to be approaching at an increasing rate of knots!
Bear Behind has been running some solid races in defeat over at Meydan and it could pay to side with him back on English shores in the Hever Sprint Stakes at 2-20. Tom Dascombe’s runner certainly has plenty of pace and is very interesting on his first UK all weather start.
An interesting field line up for the Winter Derby with last years first and second Premier Loco and Cai Shen lining up alongside the improving Farraaj. Though at 16/1 it could be worth taking a chance on Field Of Dreams who ran some very good races in big handicaps last term. The step up to 1m 2f looks as though it will suit.
The big National Hunt race of the day is the Midlands Grand National at 3-50. Master Overseer has excellent credentials for this race, based on current form he will either win or pull up! There is optimism for the former judged on his recent Veteran’s Handicap Chase win at Wincanton and his victory in this race last year. He has stamina in abundance and is fairly versatile ground wise.
