William Haggas’ filly rounded off the perfect 2 year old campaign by winning the Group One Cheveley Park Stakes at Newmarket. Provided she has trained on she will be very difficult to beat and looks one to follow throughout the season.
Aurora’s Encore aims to follow up his Grand National win with victory in the Scottish version but appears to face a stiff task off top weight. One has to be concerned about the toll the 4m 4f around Aintree’s national course has taken out of him and for that reason it is best to look elsewhere. The horse that I like the most is Henry Daly’s Quentin Collonges who seemed to have finally got his act together when winning the Grimthorpe Chase in fine style. Despite being pulled up in this race last year he arrives in good heart and can go well.
